Green Codes and Standards Medal The Melvin R. Green Codes and Standards Medal was set up in 1976 as the Codes and Standards Medal and renamed in 1996 to respect the memory and remarkable commitments of a vigorous supporter of modern guidelines. Richard W. Barnes, P.Eng., leader of ANRIC Enterprises Inc. in Toronto, is perceived for recognized initiative and demonstrable skill in the examination, improvement, advancement, acknowledgment and use of ASME codes and gauges; and for direct senior administration inclusion in the structure, development and operational help of atomic force plants. Mr. Barnes has been effectively engaged with the advancement of ASME and CSA Group (in the past Canadian Standards Association) codes and norms for over 38 years. Before setting up ANRIC Enterprises, he worked at Ontario Hydro (1971-93); prior he was with Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. An ASME Fellow, Mr. Barnes is a part and past bad habit seat of the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Technical Oversight Management Committee; an individual from the Board on Nuclear Codes and Standards; a part and past seat (13 years) of the BPV III Standards Committee of the BPV Code Section IIIRules for Construction of Nuclear Facility Components; and a part and past seat of the QME-1 Standards CommitteeQualification of Active Mechanical Equipment Used in Nuclear Facilities. Mr. Barnes got ASMEs Dedicated Service Award in 1998 and the Bernard F. Langer Nuclear Codes and Standards Award in 2003. Mr. Barnes is likewise a part and past bad habit seat of various CSA boards of trustees, and past leader of the Canadian Boiler Society. He got CSAs Award of Merit in 2011. His different distinctions incorporate the Canadian Nuclear Associations Outstanding Contribution Award in 2009. Mr. Barnes earned his lone rangers certificate in designing and his lords qualification in building science from The University of Queensland in Australia in 1960 and 1967, individually.
